Sound Movement Power Within Each of Us
You know there’s little more satisfying than when I give in to singing and dancing… dance-walking with a spring in my step, or whatever wants to authentically move through me. These simple, effective, nourishing ways to release stress and pressure return me to my heart and self-awareness quickly. I’m sharing with you my latest sound journal just to let you know this is possible! (edited: explanation of lyrics… I sometimes get “stuck in my head” trying to figure things out, and I get grumpy and unhappy. This may show up as my body feeling cold or stiff, or as specific aches and pains in my neck or low back. In these moments, it seems like this is “just the way things are” and it seems so real. But I’ve found that when I breathe more fully, move a bit, take a hot shower or a walk to get my blood and oxygen circulating again, that I can then feel my body, and realize HOW GOOD it is to be in this body right now, and that the answers to the difficulties I’ve been facing are not simply going to become clear in my head. The answers must be lived into, with my WHOLE BODY AWARENESS… listening to what actually feels good for me, and what brings me joy and natural confidence as I step into my challenges. I’m grateful for new challenges and opportunities to grow, and really happy that I can remember how to include more of myself when my focus starts to narrow into something that feels awfully constricting. There is always more potential when I breathe, trust what wants to move through me, and sing!)
We are Powerful
Sound has great power to heal and free us from false ideas we may be living under. We are more powerful than we usually let ourselves experience. You know that feeling when you’re LISTENING TO MUSIC YOU LOVE???! That feeling is in you always… you can tap into that relaxed and easy part of you as you express what’s going on in some creative way.
You’re Probably Not Perfect… Celebrate it!
It doesn’t have to be perfect. I think it’s fair to say that most of us get self-critical when we express ourselves creatively. May I propose that acknowledging right where you are and celebrating the awkwardness, nervousness, sadness, self-judgment or insecurity and bringing some lightness and laughter to it is so possible! Hell… maybe you’ll even feel how you want to fight for yourself! Let your emotions be there, and let them move through. There are many ways.
Getting Curious Brings Resilience
What happens when you get curious… what else is possible? Do you know how beautiful you are BECAUSE you’re just the way you are??? We’re here to remember. If I can be a spark of inspiration on your journey… to let yourself experience and celebrate yourself, then I’m happy to know I’m not in it alone… and neither are you! Creative expression brings us resilience, the ability to adapt to change. When you connect to what you really want and stream that out, you help us all to remember what’s meaningful too.
